When the World Hit Pause
In 2020, when the entire world was forced to hit pause, I—Amos, co-founder of WARMBOND and a product designer who had just crossed into my thirties—suddenly found myself with something I hadn't had in years: time that was truly my own.
For years, I'd been rushing from one goal to the next, treating life like a series of destinations to reach rather than a journey to experience. As Emerson said, "Life is a journey, not a destination." but I'd forgotten that truth entirely.
The pandemic slowed everything down and gave me the space to really ask myself: What could life mean to me?
Finding Myself Around the Fire
My first camping trip changed everything. Sleeping under the stars in a wild forest, surrounded by the sweet scent of grass, the crackle of a campfire, morning sunlight filtering through trees, and the chorus of birdsong—I had this profound realization that we're still hardwired for nature. Our DNA belongs out there.
After that, I could barely stand staying in hotels anymore. Time outdoors became my reset button. More importantly, my relationships with friends deepened in ways I hadn't expected. We'd laugh until our sides hurt, sleep soundly to nature's lullaby, and wake up feeling genuinely refreshed in a way that city life just couldn't provide.
3 Years of Frustration
What captivated me most about outdoor life was the campfire—it's the heart of any outdoor experience, almost sacred in its simplicity. But every time I went to buy fire gear, I'd run into the same problems: too much smoke, fires that kept dying out, or worse—equipment that would break down right when you needed it most.
Over 3 years, I tried more than 100 different fire products—gas stoves, wood burners, alcohol stoves, portable grills—you name it. I could never find that perfect piece of gear. That's when it hit me: What if I could create the world's most atmospheric, reliable multi-function fire stove for my friends and fellow outdoor enthusiasts? That moment of frustration became WARMBOND's founding vision.
Building Something Real
I started this project in complete secrecy—if I was going to fail, at least nobody would know about it. Designing fire gear was totally different from the precision electronics I was used to creating. The only thing they had in common was the need for obsessive attention to detail.
I visited over 30 factories across different cities, eventually partnering with manufacturers who work with world-class outdoor brands. Every design iteration meant scrapping batches of prototypes—it was expensive and honestly pretty brutal. I wasn't even sure if other companies went through this kind of trial-by-fire process, but it was the only way I knew how to build something I could stand behind.
The craziest part was summer testing. Picture this: testing fire stoves in sweltering heat, sweat soaking through my shirt every single time. But I knew that if we were going to make outdoor gear, it had to work in every condition imaginable.
From Solo Vision to Community
In August 2023, we launched the BondStove mini on Kickstarter. Over the past 19 months, something beautiful has happened. More and more people have chosen our product, but what really gets me excited is how they've started sharing their own stories with us. Some use it for gifts, others for quiet moments alone with the flames, and many have given us incredible feedback that's made our product so much better.
We've upgraded everything based on what our community tells us: improved airflow design for less smoke and more beautiful flames, ethanol fuel compatibility, new color options, and completely redesigned packaging that actually makes sense to use.
Our Mission: Rebuilding Connection
My first camping trip changed everything. Sleeping under the stars in a wild forest, surrounded by the sweet scent of grass, the crackle of a campfire, morning sunlight filtering through trees, and the chorus of birdsong—I had this profound realization that we're still hardwired for nature. We'd laugh until our sides hurt, sleep soundly to nature's lullaby, and wake up feeling genuinely refreshed in a way that city life just couldn't provide.
Our Vision: Becoming the Bridge
Our vision is to become a bridge that helps people easily reconnect with nature and with each other in meaningful ways. Every time someone lights up their BondStove, it's not just about making fire—it's about creating space for the conversations, the quiet moments, and the genuine connections that make life rich.
This is the WARMBOND story—one of pausing, reflecting, connecting, and reigniting what matters most. In an increasingly digital world, we believe people need these moments of warmth and authentic connection more than ever.
